HYDRATION IS MOST IMPORTANT:
Symptoms which should alert about dehydration - Inactivity-listlessness,
high fever, irritability, drowsiness, non-passing of urine, frequent passing
of watery faces, persistent vomiting.
GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS:
Breast feed, if being given, should be continued.
Administer frequently small amounts of liquid to maintain the level of
hydration.Suggested liquids are: For all children including infants :-
a) Electral b) Pedialyte 90 .
For older children :- a) Rice water b) Coconut water c) Lime water with
salt and sugar d) Lassi e) Daal / Rice water f) Limca g) chicken soup.
Curd, Rice, Potatoes, Pomegranate juice, Apple, Custard, Ice cream, jelly,
khichri, Daal & Chicken can be given depending upon the taste, the
mood and the requirement of the child. NEVER FORCE FEED your child.
Bottle feed & WHEAT products should be stopped for 2-3 days, discuss
with your doctor.
Avoid orange drinks/cola drinks.
Also avoid citrus fruits, grapes, eggs, tomatoes, peas & carrots.
